Naturopathy Providing Hope & Natural Interventions for Autism, PANDAS, ADHD, Skin Problems, Asthma & Developmental Delays

“We came to Nick for support with our 4-and-a-half-year-old non-verbal son with autism. He was struggling with severe speech delays, hyperactivity, poor sleep, gut issues, and sensory overwhelm. The care we received was incredibly thorough and personalised. Within just two months of starting the protocol recommended by Nick, we saw major shifts: his speech began emerging, he started labelling objects, responding to questions, and even saying short phrases. His hyperactivity has reduced, and he is noticeably more focused and calmer. There is still a long road ahead, but we are so happy to see the light turning on in our son…” – Abbie

Here are just some of the things parents come to see me about:

🌬️ Skin, Breath & Deeper Balance

Exploring the link between eczema, asthma and what’s driving them

Skin issues and asthma are common concerns in children—and often closely linked.

They’re a good example of how understanding the underlying cause can make all the difference.

Food intolerances, digestive health, and nutritional deficiencies often play a key role in this area.

Skin problems, in particular, tend to be approached very differently by GPs and naturopaths.

Here’s a short version of a story from my practice:

A child with eczema was brought to see me after repeated use of steroid creams. The eczema seemed to clear—but soon after, asthma began to develop.

Rather than suppressing symptoms, I focused on supporting the body’s deeper balance.

We adjusted her diet and used natural remedies to help clear what was driving the symptoms.

Over time, both the eczema and asthma eased.

🧩 Exploring what might be driving symptoms—beyond the label of Autism

Many parents come to me after an autism diagnosis—or when they’re simply concerned about things like speech delays, sensory overwhelm, or behavioural shifts.

Rather than focusing on labels, I look at the whole child: their history, environment, and what their body might be trying to tell us.

Autism presents in many different ways, so I find it helpful to gently break things down: what are we actually seeing? This can give clues directing us to underlying issues.

Autism is a complex condition, and often several factors have contributed to the presentation you’re seeing.

Addressing it is rather like peeling back the layers of an onion—it’s vital to work through each blockage, gently and in the right order.

Supporting children with autism is deeply individual—there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.

In my experience, it’s often about gently uncovering what might be getting in the way of development—nutritional gaps, gut health, environmental stressors, a build-up of toxins, or other hidden imbalances.

For example, from a nutritional perspective, certain symptoms may be linked to things like Vitamin B12, folate issues or Zinc deficiency.

Another common factor can be the build-up and poor elimination of toxins—this might stem from mold, bacteria, or other sources.

Understanding what the toxic load might be, how the body detoxes, and gently assisting that process is often part of the journey.

Depending on the child’s needs, I may explore options like nutritional and mineral supporthomeopathic protocols, or functional testing such as the OAT test, GI360 stool test, or hair mineral analysis. These can offer insight into what’s going on beneath the surface.

Autism is complex. But I’ve seen that when we work gently and consistently to reduce stressors and support the body’s natural balance, change is possible.
Whether your child is 3 or 13, it’s never too early—or too late—to explore what might help.

If you’re feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or just want to talk things through, I’d be happy to hear from you.

🧠 PANDAS / PANS & Sudden Shifts in Behaviour

Understanding what might be driving inflammation and overwhelm

PANDAS / PANS often starts abruptly and dramatically—with symptoms that can be mistaken for autism, such as tics, OCD, compulsions, rage, anxiety, and separation anxiety.

In my experience, inflammation and toxicity often lie behind these shifts.

It’s a complex condition, and the key to easing symptoms is to gently reduce inflammation and explore what might be driving it.

Typical contributing factors to brain inflammation and neurotoxicity can include residual STREP infections, bacteria, viruses, Candida, and environmental stressors such as hidden mold.

Testing can help highlight whether any of these factors are present—offering a clearer path forward.

Some symptoms may point toward specific underlying issues. For example:

✅ Sudden onset OCD is often linked to unresolved STREP
✅ Stimming behaviour can be related to Candida overgrowth
✅ Aggressive behaviour may be linked to bacterial imbalance
✅ Lack of improvement despite good interventions can suggest environmental issues, such as mold

With the testing options available today, it opens the door to rebalancing, targeted support, and meaningful change in a child’s life.

If you’re seeing sudden shifts in your child’s behaviour and feel unsure where to turn, I’d be happy to talk things through.

⚡ ADHD, Focus & Finding What Helps

Exploring what might be driving inattention, hyperactivity, disorganisation and impulsiveness.

I’m frequently asked about ADHD and what can be done naturally to support children who struggle with it.

Rather than jumping straight to medication, many parents want to understand what’s really going on—and whether there’s a gentler way forward.

ADHD is often diagnosed based on behaviours like being easily distracted, impulsive, or emotionally changeable. But these symptoms can stem from many different causes.

There’s no single test for ADHD, and many feel it’s over-diagnosed—sometimes grouping together dozens of unrelated childhood challenges under one label.

In my experience, it’s often about looking beneath the surface.

Environmental stressors, dietary toxins, food additives, and poor nutrition can all affect sensitive systems in the body—especially the nervous, immune, and hormonal systems.

Teaching methods, screen time, and stress at home may also play a role.

Some contributing factors I often explore include:

  • Blood sugar imbalances (which may affect a large number of children with ADHD symptoms)
  • Food sensitivities and nutritional gaps
  • Prenatal stress or toxicity
  • Exposure to additives like Aspartame or Nutrasweet
  • Lack of movement, fresh air, and sensory regulation

Depending on the child’s needs, I may recommend:

  • A whole-food diet free from artificial colours and additives
  • Reducing sugar and processed foods
  • Supplementing with specific minerals and nutrients to support brain development
  • Homeopathic support
  • Daily movement and outdoor time to help regulate energy and mood

Every child is different. But I’ve seen that when we support the body’s natural balance and reduce stressors, things can shift—sometimes dramatically.

If your child has been diagnosed with ADHD, or you’re simply concerned about their behaviour or focus, I’d be happy to talk things through.

🌱 Developmental Delays & Gentle Support for Growth

Exploring what might be getting in the way of speech, coordination or connection

When children show signs of developmental delay—whether in speech, movement, behaviour or social connection—it can feel overwhelming.

Many parents come to me unsure where to start, especially when they’re told to “wait and see.”

In my experience, it’s often about gently supporting the body’s natural development—by identifying what might be getting in the way.

This can include nutritional gaps, environmental stressors, or a build-up of toxins that the body is struggling to clear.

Children’s bodies are growing rapidly, and early support can make a meaningful difference.

I often look at areas like:

  • Nutritional balance and deficiencies
  • Gut health and digestion
  • Movement and sensory integration exercises

If you’re concerned about your child’s development, I’d be happy to talk things through and explore what might help.

🌙 Sleep & Settling Support

Helping children feel safe, calm and rested—naturally

Sleep struggles in children can take many forms—nightmares, restlessness, frequent waking, teething discomfort, or simply not wanting to be left alone in the room.

For parents, it can be exhausting and emotionally draining.

And for the child, poor sleep often reflects deeper imbalances—whether physical, emotional, or environmental.

In my experience, gentle support can make a meaningful difference.

I often explore areas like:

  • Nutritional gaps that may affect sleep regulation
  • Teething-related discomfort and how the body is processing it
  • Emotional stressors or overstimulation during the day
  • Environmental factors like light, EMFs, or room temperature
  • Homeopathic support to calm the nervous system and ease transitions

Children often respond well to natural support—especially when it’s tailored to their age, constitution, and specific sleep pattern.

Whether it’s a baby waking every hour or a child who struggles to settle after dark, there are gentle ways to help.

If you’re feeling worn down by broken sleep or unsure how to support your child, I’d be happy to talk things through.
